FAQs

Q. What are the deployment options for NETi?

A. NETi is highly flexible and can be deployed on any Linux host with IP connectivity to the internet and the devices that need to be discovered and monitored. Here are the most common deployment options:

  • Physical Server: NETi can be installed on a physical server located within the customer's DMZ for secure, on-premises management.

  • Local Virtual Machine (VM): Customers can deploy NETi within their existing VM infrastructure, providing a convenient and scalable solution.

  • Cloud-based VM: NETi can also be hosted in a cloud VM, either managed by the customer or by MNB, with an IPSec tunnel to securely connect to the customer’s environment.

Q. What are the minimum system requirements for the NETi Platform?

A. The system requirements for NETi depend on the size of the network and the deployment mode. For a small network (fewer than 200 devices), the typical requirements are:

  • 4 CPU Cores

  • 16GB RAM

  • 100GB Storage

For larger deployments (200 to 1,000 devices), the platform may require:

  • Up to 8 CPU Cores

  • 32GB RAM

  • 200GB Storage

We will collaborate with you during the consultancy process to determine the precise requirements tailored to your network’s needs.

Q. What information is required from the customer to setup the system?

A. To set up the system, we need:

  • Management IP Ranges: The IP ranges used to manage your network devices at each site.

  • Login Credentials: The credentials for accessing these devices.

This information enables us to start the discovery process, automatically cataloging your devices and initiating monitoring and backups.

Q. What is the end to end process before the platform is handed over to the customer?

A. The process is straightforward:

  • Initial Consultation: After you contact the NETi team, we’ll engage in informal discussions to understand your requirements and determine the package that best suits your business.

  • Workshops and Planning: Once the package and service details are agreed upon, we will conduct workshops to gather the necessary technical information.

  • Installation: We will proceed with installing the required equipment and software based on the chosen deployment model.

  • Device Discovery: We’ll run the initial discovery process to populate the inventory with your network devices.

  • Training (Optional): Depending on the package level, we may conduct workshops to train your users on how to fully leverage NETi's capabilities.

Q. How secure is the NETi Platform?

A. The platform is designed with security as a top priority. It runs on Ubuntu, a Linux distribution known for its robust security features and regular updates. Here's how we ensure the platform remains secure:

  • Open Source Transparency: The platform leverages various open-source tools, which are regularly reviewed and audited by the global community. This transparency allows for the rapid identification and patching of vulnerabilities.

  • Regular Security Updates: We ensure that the platform and its components receive the latest security updates from both the Ubuntu repositories and the upstream projects. This helps protect against known vulnerabilities.

  • User and Access Management: The platform supports LDAP and Active Directory integration to control who can access the platform.

  • Firewall and Network Security: The platform is configured to only allow traffic to the required IPs using the required ports. No unauthorised traffic will be allowed inbound or outbound to the NETi platform.

  • Security Best Practices: We contract experienced security experts to thoroughly vet and secure the NETi platform. This proactive approach ensures that the platform adheres to the highest security standards and is continuously monitored for potential vulnerabilities.

Q. Who manages the NETi platform after its installed?

A. After the NETi platform is installed and operational, it is managed remotely by MNB. Our team oversees the platform’s maintenance, updates, and ongoing support to ensure optimal performance and security.

Q. How do you collect the circuit information for the Circuits Insight Dashboard?

A. NETi collects circuit information by integrating with a variety of data sources, including:

  • Excel Spreadsheets: Importing data from structured Excel files.

  • ITSM Management Tools: Extracting information from IT Service Management systems.

  • SharePoint Documents: Gathering data from SharePoint repositories.

  • Contract Management Tools: Accessing information from tools used for contract management.

Q. How do you collect the end-of-life information for the EOL Insights Dashboard?

A. During the discovery process, NETi automatically adds all device models to the inventory. In the background, an automated process collects end-of-life (EOL) data for each device model, ensuring that the EOL Insights Dashboard is continuously updated with accurate information.

Q. How often is the platform updated?

A. The NETi platform is updated regularly to ensure it remains secure, reliable, and up-to-date with the latest features. Updates include:

  • Security Patches: Security patches for the Linux host system are applied promptly and regularly to protect against vulnerabilities and ensure your system is safeguarded.

  • Feature Enhancements: Major updates that introduce new features or significant improvements are scheduled periodically, typically every few months. We communicate these updates in advance and provide details on new functionalities and enhancements.

  • Bug Fixes: Routine updates include bug fixes and performance improvements, which are deployed on an as-needed basis to address any issues that may arise.

  • Compatibility Updates: We also ensure compatibility with new versions of underlying components and integrations, updating the platform accordingly.
